European Sourdough Starter for sale. Very active, three generations kept it alive, bakes amazing sourdough bread.
Our sourdough starter (Mother) has been serving us for about 4 years now but has its origin in Europe, traceable back three generations. It is very vigorous and makes incredible bread. For a feeding ratio of 1:1:1 you should expect a peak of about 1.5 hours at room temperature. She is happy to spend up to 10 days in the fridge around 4 Deg C without a feed and then bloom immediately for the next batch of bread.
The price is for a jar with 100g of starter, which should be enough to get you going. A recommended feeding regime can be found on the additional tab. We can send the starter sealed in a plastic bag in overnight shipping or you can organise your own pick-up from Jetavana Grove or by arrangement in Brisbane.
We recommend wholewheat or rye flour, preferably organic will give consistent results. Feed once per week with a ratio of one part spent starter, one part filtered water and one part organic flour. Stir vigorously and mark the level on a jar. Place on a warm area ( around 26 deg ) and watch it grow. It should double in size within 3 hours for this ratio.
